Meritzer Williams IAAF World Junior Sliver Medalist

Thanks to the hard work and commitment of Meritzer Williams, St Kitts and Nevis has won their first ever World Junior Championship medal at the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships held in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Earlier today, Meritzer shone with radiance after having realized that she had placed 2nd in the 200m with a time of 23.40s earning her and by extension, the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, the silver medal.

The gold was won by Sheniqua Ferguson of Bahamas 23.24secs, while the bronze went to Janelle Redhead of Grenada 23.52, for complete sweep for the Caribbean.

The SKNAAA salutes Meritzer’s determination and strength and is extremely proud of her accomplishments.

In other Track related news, the Women’s 4 x 100m relay team has advanced to the final of this event clocking a time of 44.45s, which is a new junior record. The team comprised of Marecia Pemberton, Meritzer Williams, Sheriffa Whyte and Tameka Williams.

Sheriffa Whyte placed 5th in her heat of the Long Jump event with a distance of 5.96m.

The SKNAAA is extremely happy with the performances of all its athletes at the World Junior Championship.
